Selection of stone is a multi step process, which varies according to application and personal taste. For example, granite is preferred for most kitchen countertops because of its durability, hardness, resistance to bacteria and heat. Alternatively, marble while quite beautiful, is softer, more porous than granite and somewhat susceptible to staining and scratching.

New Soapstone Slabs Have Arrived

We recently received a shipment of new Brazilian soapstone from the Green Mountain Soapstone Company in Vermont. Soapstone is a soft, non-porous natural stone that is increasingly popular in high-end homes, restaurants and commercial properties. Soapstone is a beautifully elegant stone but is not for everyone. Because of its extremely soft geological composition, soapstone will show everyday wear and tear as well as change its appearance over time when treated with mineral oil. Soapstone should be considered to be a high maintenance material that is best suited for ‘working kitchens’. We have traditional PA Original (blue /gray), Emerald Sunshine (pale green) and Ice Flower (random pattern of light and dark gray) slab to select. Stop in to learn more about soapstone and see these beautiful slabs.
