Selection of stone is a multi step process, which varies according to application and personal taste. For example, granite is preferred for most kitchen countertops because of its durability, hardness, resistance to bacteria and heat. Alternatively, marble while quite beautiful, is softer, more porous than granite and somewhat susceptible to staining and scratching.

BMG has new Woodland Jade™ Slate direct from Central Vermont.

BMG

Bridgewater Marble & Granite (BMG) is pleased to offer our new Woodland Jade™ Slate direct from Central Vermont.  This material comes in 1 ¼” thick honed slabs and is popular for kitchen and bath countertops, back splashes, table tops, fireplace surrounds and stone hearths.  These light jade green honed slabs have natural striations which create a smooth, warm, comfortable surface that will last for generations.  Unlike other slate, this material is non-fading.

Woodland Jade™ slate is non-porous which makes it resistant to most stains and safe from common household bacteria.  This material will resist etching from wine and other acids and is easily maintained with a light coat of food grade mineral oil a few times each year.  Most household cleaners are safe for cleaning slate countertops.
